April 18th is Sleep Apnea Awareness Day 2012!

SleepApnea.orgThe American Sleep Apnea Association (ASAA) has declared April 18, 2012 as Sleep Apnea Awareness Day.  Sleep Apnea occurs when the airway is blocked during sleep, causing loss of oxygen to the blood, and causing the body to not be able to achieve deep REM sleep.  REM sleep is essential to the human body and without it a person never feels rested.  The affects of sleep deprivation are cumulative.

"Every day is sleep apnea awareness day at the ASAA," said executive director Edward Grandi, "but we designated April 18th as Sleep Apnea Awareness Day because we believe that educating people about sleep apnea’s dangers is critical."

The American Sleep Apnea Association (ASAA) has issued this YouTube Video to help with awareness.  Please share it with your friends and family.  Sleep Apnea is no joke, it can be life-threatening and is easily treated with effective results.

Here is another video about Sleep Apnea from the ASAA.  Do you see yourself or a loved one in this video?

The most effective and easiest to use treatment for Obstructive Sleep Apnea (the majority diagnosis of Sleep Apnea) is CPAP therapy.  CPAP is an acronym for Continuous Positive Airway Pressure.  At, we sell CPAP therapy devices and supplies to self-paying patients without the need for health insurance.  TheCPAPPeople are also proud members of the ASAA and support its mission of awareness, advocacy, and treatment.
