Understanding CPAP Warranties

When purchasing CPAP equipment, the customer takes many factors into consideration.  One of these is the warranty on the equipment that you will acquire.  All manufacturers have limited warranties on CPAP machines and CPAP masks and the customer is made aware of these at the time of purchase.    The following chart illustrates the major manufacturers' warranty periods for machines, humidifiers and masks:

Based on the manufacturer warranty chart, the longest warranty in the industry is offered by DeVilbiss.  This includes their Devilbiss IntelliPAP series -- the Standard Plus, the Auto-Adjust and BiLevel S machines.

The process of replacing a defective machine, humidifier or mask should not be a daunting and stressful process for the customer.   Because we maintain your purchase history (including product and serial number as applicable) we assure you, our customers, that we will make the process for a warranty issue as painless and hassle-free as possible.  In most cases, the honoring of your warranty is simply the time it takes us to ship you a new replacement.

This is the general practice of DeVilbiss, Philips Respironics, ResMed and Fisher & Paykel.   ProBasics' policy is somewhat different.  Once a machine is thought to be defective within the 2-year warranty period, it will need to be returned to the manufacturer to be repaired.  If it is unable to be repaired, it will be replaced by the manufacturer with a new or refurbished machine.  This can be a timely process, as manufacturers do not deal directly with the consumer.  In other words, the time it takes to ship it to us (the dealer), and then from us to the manufacturer alone can take over a week!  That doesn’t include the time it will take for the problem to be diagnosed.  That is time that could impact your sleep therapy.

If you are concerned about a product that may be out of warranty, we suggest that you call us to discuss the best option, i.e. purchase of a new product vs. repair of your current product.  Sometimes the cost of a new product is better than attempting to repair an older model.  We will assist you in determining the best economical option.

Manufacturer warranties generally begin the day the dealer acquires the equipment.  We share this with you so that you may understand that products left on the shelf for an extended period of time actually depletes or reduces your warranty period. has a high turnover in our inventory thereby not impacting your warranty.  Some manufacturers, however, will allow up to 6 months of "shelf life" in consideration of your total warranty period.
