February is American Heart Month

February is deemed "American Heart Month" by the American Heart Association.

During American Heart Month, thousands of volunteers visit their neighbors. Their goal is to raise funds for research and education and pass along information about heart disease and stroke.

It is estimated that one-third of patients with heart disease and up to 75 percent of stroke patients have sleep-disordered breathing problems. Left untreated, obstructive sleep apnea also increases risk for hypertension, stroke, heart disease, and other co-morbidities.

In recognition of American Heart Month, we encourage everyone to get more information about Obstructive Sleep Apnea and get tested!  Now is the time, don't put it off any longer.  Ask your doctor about your risks for OSA and how you can be tested.
